Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Three times  1980,  1984,  1991.

Served in various Parliamentary committees during tenure of M.P. such as Public Undertaking, Estimate committee, Criminal Law Amendment Bill, Mental Health, Commerce and Railways, Civil Aviation and Tourism. He was member of Rubber Board, Coffee Board and Cardamom Board. He also acted as state convener of Congress (I) Parliamentary party, has travelled widely around the world as M.P.
