CCRI Library Automation

The changing dynamics of the information space in the digital age demands emphasis on long range scientific planning and implementation strategies for the Coir Industry.  Recent developments in technology, particularly information technology provide ample opportunities for enhanced access, ending, archiving and expanded dissemination of information.  At this juncture, a concerted effort is proposed to be taken for integrating and consolidating the vast treasure of resources, which are distributed and scattered into a national resource of coir, which could be accessed by the entire user community. A collaborative project is under progress with Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode for setting up of the Digital Library at CCRI.

Digital Library is emerging as leading edge technological solution to the persistent problem of enhancing access, enduring, archiving and expanding the dissemination of information.  It is therefore imperative that the digital collection and digital contents be integrated and consolidated under a single strong network and made available to the user commodity at affordable cost. The Scientist’s engaged in Research & Development  programs at Central Coir Research Institute have to update their information in the field of coir research is the need of the hour.  It is proposed to set up a digital library at CCRI for collection, collation, and dissemination of information through electronic media.

Extended the digital information service to he students of collages and institutions  from  various states in India who were doing the project work in various subjects in part of their study like  Chemistry, Microbiology,IT, Engineering  especially the PG course on Coir technology.   

National Coir Information Centre 

The Library at the Central Coir Research Institute will be upgraded as a National Coir Information Centre, focusing the aim to full fill the information gap regarding the coir related information's within the state and National level and also to extend the technical aspects related to the Production of Coir and Coir products, Product diversification, Engineering, Dyeing & shade matching, Testing  and Design development.
