Is Standards on Coir
Objective
To evolve standard specification for different types of coir fibre and coir products. Extend testing facilities to the industry on realization of service charges
Equip the Lab. with the instruments and equipments for testing the quality parameters of coir and coir products as per BIS standards
Activities
Formulate standards for coir and coir products for the approval of Bureau of Indian Standards
Revise specification of standards of coir and coir products
Test the quality parameters of coir & coir products as per BIS specification and issue reports
Impart training in testing of coir and coir products.
Test the specimens of coir products from the trade
The Physical Testing Lab is equipped for testing the quality parameters of coir fibre ( retted and mechanically extracted fibre), Coir yarn, Coir rope, Curled coir rope, Mats, Mattings and Rubberized coir
