The design section is headed by a Designer. During the year 1998 the design section of the CCRI has been provided with Computer Aided Design system. This has improved the quality of the designs produced by the section and the designs are produced at much faster speed with various manipulations depending upon the choice of the buyers

To evolve novel designs and patterns for incorporating on Fibre Mats/Mattings, Carpets, Wall Hangings etc.
To develop designs of intricate patterns for stencilling

To study the design for floor furnishing materials and areawise preferences of designs of consumer markets and development of novel designs suitable for reproduction in Coir Mats and Mattings
